1. What’s your name, what do you do and where are you from?

My name is Debbie Attwood. I currently do a lot of things including co-running a social media and marketing agency (Butterscotch Media) and writing my first novel but my day job is Marketing Exec and Copywriter at First Utility. I am originally from Tunbridge Wells in Kent, now residing in East London.

2. Tell me about Butterscotch. How did you start your agency and what services do you offer?

Butterscotch was an idea my friend and I had after having to deal with a lot of agencies we felt were charging a lot and not really delivering what we wanted. We discussed the idea at a Beyonce concert, of all places, and decided just to go for it. We wanted to start small and genuinely help small businesses with their social media, marketing strategies and web design. We work across a lot of areas including social media, marketing, web design and branding as well as content creation and copywriting. I think having both had a background within all these areas we are in a unique position to give that personal touch. I don’t believe in buying followers and I like to find out about a business and carefully craft a strategy that can organically grow their brand, following and sales.

3. Who inspires you and why?

Wow, that’s a hard question. There are a lot of people that inspire me, probably too many to mention. I think for every area of my life I look to different people for inspiration – my mum inspires me to be happy, my best friend, who is a very talented fashion designer, inspires me to work hard and Beyonce inspires me to aim high… haha!

4. Favourite book?

I have so many favourites but my all-time number 1 has to be The Time Traveller’s Wife by Audrey Niffeneger. Read it – don’t watch the damn movie!

5. I hear you are working on a book.. any spoilers to share? 🙂

I am working on a book and I am very excited about it. I have had the story in my head for the past 10 years and finally decided to put it down on paper. I am afraid no spoilers at this point but I really hope people will enjoy reading it as much as I am enjoying creating it.

6. Of all the world leaders past and present, who would you most like to be sent to Mars… without a spacesuit!?

Hmmm another difficult question. There are a lot of very bad people (or not so bad people who get a little bit high on power). Hitler would probably be the obvious one. Stalin maybe? Or Bashar al-Assad. There are too many to decide.

7. Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I would like to hope I am a published author sitting in my big house writing my fourth novel!

8. Best pub in London?

Well I wouldn’t like to say which is the BEST but I really like Roadhouse though I suppose that’s a bar rather than a pub. It may be the most cliché and tacky place in London but you get two cocktails for £5.50 in happy hour and great nachos… that’s all a girl really wants on a Friday J

9. Tell me something not a lot of people know about you?

Not many people know that I used to run a pub. It was a bit of a random career choice but it was fun and I learnt a lot!

10. Describe your last date… 🙂

My last date was with the cast of Grey’s Anatomy – we have a standing date every night around 10pm and they always leave me in tears!
